An applicant for admission to the programme shall be a graduate of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife or a graduate of any other approved University.

The applicant shall normally possess a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) Honours degree to be eligible for admission. In exceptional cases candidates from OAU with third class degree may be considered under certain conditions as stipulated in the regulations governing postgraduate studies. However, other candidates in the same category with at least 3 years post qualification experience may also be considered.

Candidates with the following qualifications are also eligible for admission.

Postgraduate diploma degree in Public Administration or any cognate discipline; and/or Professional qualifications/membership of such institutes as Chartered Institute of Management (CIM), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPA), Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) and such other recognized professional institutes. Entry requirements into any of these institutes must satisfy those for admission into first degree programmes of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

The specific objectives of the programme are:

• to provide an advanced and specialized course in Public Administration and Management for middle and top management grade officers in the public sector institutions;
• to develop high level human resource in the private and public sectors of the economy; and
• to develop and enhance the potential and the proficiency of candidates on modern administrative techniques.

An applicant for admission to the programme shall be:

1. All applicants must satisfy the entry requirements for admission into first degree programmes of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
2. Graduates of Obafemi Awolowo University with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) Honours degree. Graduates of any other recognised University with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) Honours degree.
3. Graduates of Obafemi Awolowo University or any other recognised University with a minimum of Third Class degree in Management and Administration related discipline.
4. Holders of HND in Management, Finance, and Administration disciplines plus Professional qualifications/membership of such Institutes.
5. Holders of HND in Management, Finance, and Administration disciplines plus Professional qualifications/membership of such Institutes as Chartered Institute of Management (CIM), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPA), Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) and such other recognised professional Institutes.
6. Holders of HND with at least Lower Credit in Management, Finance, and Administration disciplines plus minimum of two years post-qualification working experience.
7. Holders of HND plus PGD in Management, Finance, and Administration disciplines.
8. Holders of HND in Management, Finance, and Administration disciplines.
9. Notwithstanding all the requirements above, the Department may require an applicant to pass tests as specified in regulation 10 (vi)(a) in the postgraduate handbook.

The programme shall last a minimum of two academic sessions.
